Conveniently located on a county highway between Sioux Falls and Vermillion, SD, the Peterson Farm can offer what singles or couples may be looking for: peace, quiet, solitude, and tranquility.

Enjoy your morning coffee on the porch, watching and listening to the countryside awaken. Our sunrises are rivaled only by our sunsets. Use our bicycles and go for a spin. Or take a walk around the section. Do as much, or as little, as you like. If you happened to get here on a motorcycle, the region has many beautiful routes to explore. We'd be happy to make suggestions. Southeastern South Dakota is loaded with day-trip opportunities: shopping, wineries, collegiate events, and museums, just to name a few.

After a day of doing exactly what you feel like doing, for as long as you want to do it, come back to the cottage. If you like, we will have a bottle of wine chilled and waiting for you. Take a stroll and wait for the sun to set. Watch for fireflies. Early spring and late fall bring the Canadian geese, as our farm is on their migratory route. They often gather by the thousands in the field just north of the grove. If it's a good night for wood-fired pizza, we'd love to have you join us. And did I mention the stars?

Kate's cottage has sure come a long way from where it was in the fall of 2012. The pictures below give you an idea of what we've done so far, from replacing the roofing, removing the add-on front porch, cleaning out and remodeling the interior, and adding plumbing and electrical as well as a new bathroom.
